PowerPoint Has Encountered an Error and Must Close
Problem
When you close a file or presentation you get an error message: "PowerPoint Has Encountered an Error and Must Close"
Solution
This Microsoft article explains how to resolve the problem
Problem
When you start a PowerPoint show, the show appears briefly on the attached monitor or projector, then disappears; at that point you see "PowrPoint has encountered an error ..."
Solution
This may occur when your PC's video resolution is set to a higher value than the external monitor or projector is capable of handling.
Right-click your Windows desktop, choose Properties from the pop-up menu, switch to the Settings tab and set screen resolution to 1024x768 or (if you have an older projector) 800x600.
Try running the show again. If it now works, try gradually increasing the screen resolution. You may now be able to bring it back to the previous setting without seeing any more error messages. If you do see an error message, set screen resolution back to 1024x768 temporarily while you run your show.
