MS PhotoEditor disappears

Problem

You start MS PhotoEditor from Start, Programs. After a second or two, you see "Microsoft PhotoEditor" on the task bar but nothing happens when you click it. You can't make the program actually appear so you can work with it.

Solution

This can happen when you close PhotoEditor with even a little of its window off the left or top of your screen.

To fix it:

• Activate PhotoEditor by clicking its icon on the task bar. When it's active, its task bar icon looks depressed. You'd look depressed too if clicking you served no useful purpose. But bear with us, it'll all be better soon.
• Right-click the PhotoEditor icon then click Move on the popup menu. If Move is grayed out, it's because PhotoEditor isn't active. Left-click the icon and try again.
• Press any arrow key and you'll see an outline that represents the current size of the (still invisible) PhotoEditor window. Hold down the arrow key to keep moving the window (or use your mouse once the outline is visible). Move it so that its upper left corner is on screen, then click the mouse button to "set" it in place.

Congratulations! You have PhotoEditor back. Use the power wisely.

Another Solution

PhotoEditor may have been deleted when you upgraded Office or PowerPoint. In that case, see:
