Using the Web Publishing Wizard to upload your files to the web
You've created HTML files, now you need to upload them to your web site. How?
If you have the Web Publishing Wizard, it's one simple way to get the job done.
To start the wizard, choose Start, Programs, Microsoft Web Publishing, Web Publishing Wizard
Under "File or folder name:" select the file or folder you want to upload to your web site (type in the full path or use the "Browse Folders ..." or "Browse Files ..." buttons.
If you choose a folder and want to upload all subfolders as well, put a check next to "Include subfolders"
If you've used the Wizard before and defined a server, it will appear on the "Web server:" list here. If so, choose the server you want to upload to and click Next.
Note that in this case, "server" doesn't mean "web server", it really means "a specific folder ON a specific web server". Silly Microsoft.
If you haven't defined any servers or want to define a new one, click "New"
Type in a "friendly" name for the server here. Something that's easy for you to remember. This is the name that will appear on the list of servers you saw in the previous dialog box.
In "URL or Internet address:" type the URL to the folder on the server where you want to upload your files. As the Wizard points out, you'll probably need to get this information from your web service provider or system administrator.
"Local directory:" seems to echo the directory you chose in the first step.
Type your username and password here.
If you want the Wizard to remember your security information so you don't have to enter it the next time, put a checkmark next to "Save this password in your password list". Given the number of viruses that love to go after this kind of information, my reaction to this is "Not on a bet". But it's your computer.
Once you enter the required info and click OK, the upload should start, unless the Wizard is unable to connect using the information you've provided.
