Eliminate the screentip that appears over hyperlinks

Problem

When you hover the mouse over a hyperlink, PowerPoint displays a little yellow box with some text in it. You can change this to any text you like by editing the hyperlink and changing the ScreenTip text, but you can't eliminate the screentip entirely.

Solution

This little macro will remove the text from all of the screentips in all of the hyperlinks on each slide in your presentation. It doesn't touch hyperlinks on masters, templates, layouts, etc. It replaces the text with nothing, which produces a small dot rather than the usual square yellow blank screentip. It doesnt eliminate the screentip entirely but does make it as unintrusive as possible.

Sub BlankTheScreentips()
    Dim osl As Slide
    Dim ohl As Hyperlink

    For Each osl In ActivePresentation.Slides
        For Each ohl In osl.Hyperlinks
            ' This sets the screentip to a space
            'ohl.ScreenTip = " "
            ' This sets the screentip to null, even less intrusive than a space
            ohl.ScreenTip = ""
        Next
    Next
End Sub
