How do I enable Quartz Text Smoothing/anti-aliasing in PowerPoint X?

If you are using Jaguar, skip to next paragraph. If you are using OS 10.1.x (check in Apple -> About This Mac), update to 10.1.5, available free through Software Update.

Apply the latest updates to Office X

Now, open PowerPoint and go to PowerPoint, Preferences. Click the View tab, then check the option to "Enable Quartz Text Smoothing", then click OK.
