Playing movies in slow or fast motion
Problem
I want to to put a movie on a PowerPoint slide and play it back in slow or fast motion.
Solution
If you add a movie via Insert, Movies And Sounds, Movie From File, you can't change the playback speed.
But PowerPoint MVP and Media Wizard Austin Myers reports that you can use this trick:
From the control toolbox place an instance of Windows Media Player on the slide.
Right click the Windows Media Player control and select Properties.
For the URL property, type the path to your media file.
In Properties click "Custom" then the Advanced tab.
The default "Rate" is 1.0000 change it to .5000 to have the movie play at half speed, or change it to .25000 for quarter-speed playback. Or set the rate higher than 1.0000 for faster-than-normal playback.
Look out, Charlie Chaplin.
