Flashes, blue screen or blank screen when viewing slides with video clips on external monitor or projector
Note: This problem (and the solution) was reported by James on the PowerPoint Newsgroup. James uses an Acer 5633 which has a NVidia GeForce Go7300 graphics device. Your system may or may not work identically, depending on hardware and driver versions.
When a presentation that includes video clips is displayed on an external monitor or projector, the video displays in full-screen mode rather than at the inserted size/as a video on the slide. This may occur in any version of PowerPoint.
The resulting synch change which may make the projector or external monitor go blank or blue-screen temporarily.
Turn off full screen display. To do this:
- Go to nView Desktop Manager
- Select nView Properties
- On the Zoom tab, click on Full screen Video Zoom
- Locate Full screen device and make sure it's set to "Disable"
Note that this may only work when the secondary device is actually attached to the laptop. ...

NVIDIA graphics drivers may assume that if you are playing a DVD, you'll want it to play full-screen, whether on the laptop's built-in screen or on external ones, and that if an external device is plugged in, you'd always want the video displayed there.
